Welcome to the Maungatapere School website.
Maungatapere School is a rural school situated on the outskirts of Whangarei about 15 kms on the road to Dargaville.
We are a full primary school, catering for approximately 300 Y1-8 pupils (5-13 year olds) with 12 classrooms and teachers plus special needs teachers and support staff.
Our community are actively supportive of our school, participating in many learning and social activities throughout the year. The school is well used by the community for weekend and after school activities.
We are privileged to have large playgrounds, native trees on site, a hall, library, pool, shaded adventure playgrounds for junior and senior pupils and recently upgraded facilities.
We have a tradition of academic, sport and music success. Pupils are able to learn a range of instruments at the school and participate in a wide range of sporting events.
Today, Wednesday 14 December is a normal school day.
Tomorrow, Thursday 15 December, children are to come to school as normal, buses will be running in the morning as usual.
Prizegiving will then start at 10am on the school field.
Prizegiving will finish at approximately 11.15am and children are to be collected at this time.
There will be no buses or after-school care following prizegiving - School finishes for the year at the end of prizegiving.
*** OTAIKA VALLEY BUS - for those that travel on the Otaika Bus, please be advised that the timetable will be changing for Terms 3 & 4 in 2016. Click here.
*** WHATITIRI BUS - for those that travel on the Whatitiri Bus please be advised that it is now travelling down Otuhi Road. This means that it will be picking up/dropping off approximately 10 minutes later to those stops after Otuhi Road ie Woodward Road, Norris Road etc.
